People's Pots workshop

Today we ran our People's Pots workshop, inviting people to come along and learn how to crochet a basic vessel. We'd made up lots of balls of yarn from disused materials: plastic bags, old fabric and sheets. We started participants off with balls of regular yarn, inviting them to graduate to the challenges of the uneven recycled yarns once they'd got the hang of it. There were some great results, and all very different.

Mend*rs Symposium

JMB ran the first DIY Store at Mend*rs symposium, Cumbria. Hosted graciously at Bill Lloyd's Slough Farm in the beautiful Cumbria countryside, this was the first ever large-scale mending gathering in the UK. We were really pleased to be a part of it, and to meet so many amazing people.

Our DIY Store was housed in the cow shed...

That we shared with a nest of fledging swallows....

We had lots of materials and things to spark ideas

We'd brought a range of things that needed fixing, but also asked other attendees to bring things that they had that need fixing.

Bridget's fixed a bird house

Meghan's jug, rescued from outside a house near Peckham Rye station, was given a new handle.

Tom gave Jonnet's shoes a new lease of life.

Take Me Make Me workshop

Last Saturday JMB were at Camberwell Open House.  We were giving out Take Me Make Me boxes - a kit of stuff to make with and asking people to have a go at making something from the ingredients in the kit.  Some of the results are pictured here!  Each kit had a different set of familiar objects in it, we hoped it would inspire people to look differently at the objects surrounding them at home, and what their potential could be.
We had a lot of interest and gave out 60 kits (thank you if you were one of those who took part) and got some great feedback from our visitors.

The D.I.Y Store - Mend*rs symposium

We're planning for our forthcoming workshop at Mend*rs symposium at the end of the month. We've just had a little logo designed for it. We're planning to use it on a hand-painted sign and stamp. More updates over the coming weeks.
